MY STORY
How a Love for Broadway Became a Mission
I didn’t grow up dreaming of Broadway. Like many people, I discovered musical theatre by accident—stumbling into a high school production and realizing there was magic happening on that stage. From that moment on, I was hooked.
I pursued formal training, graduated with degrees in music and theatre, and spent years building a career as a musical director, conductor, and performer. I worked on national tours, Broadway productions, and collaborated with some of the most talented artists in the industry.
About 15 years ago, I started working with Disney’s Broadway Workshops as a teaching artist. It was transformative. I realized that teaching wasn’t just something I could do—it was what I was meant to do.
But over time, I noticed a problem: the workshops were only available to groups with Broadway tickets. Individuals, families, adults who wanted to participate? There was no door for them.
I started talking to friends, colleagues, even church members about this. They’d say, “I’d love to take one of your workshops.” And I’d have to say, “I wish I could offer that to you.”
That’s when the idea for Kevin On The Keys was born. What if we created drop-in, accessible workshops? What if we removed the barriers? What if Broadway wasn’t something exclusive, but something everyone could experience?
Kevin On The Keys is my answer to that question. It’s about accessibility, community, and the belief that music should bring people together—not intimidate them. Every workshop, every performance, every interaction is designed around one core principle: You belong here exactly as you are.
No experience required. No judgment. Just joy, connection, and the magic of Broadway.

How I Teach, Why It Works
Inclusion Over Excellence
I believe everyone belongs. I don't teach to create Broadway stars (though some students do go on to perform). I teach because people deserve access to music and performance, regardless of their background or experience level.
Connection Before Skills
Technique matters, but connection matters more. My goal is to create an environment where people feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and celebrate the music together. When people feel connected, learning happens naturally.
Joy is Non-Negotiable
If you're not having fun, I'm not doing my job. Whether it's a workshop or a performance, the experience should leave people feeling happier, more confident, and more connected to themselves and each other.

Why I Do This Work
” I remember being 15 years old, standing backstage for the first time, watching performers prepare for a show. I thought, “This is magic. This is what I want to be part of for the rest of my life.”
That 15-year-old Kevin had a dream. Now, as an adult, I get to help other people discover their own magic—whether they want to perform, create, or just experience the joy of being in a room with other people who love Broadway.
That’s why Kevin On The Keys exists. Because everyone deserves to feel that magic. Not just professional performers. Not just people with “talent.” Everyone.
When I work with a student who’s never sung in front of others before, and they discover they can do it—when I see their face light up with confidence—that’s why I do this.
When a corporate team comes to a workshop stressed and disconnected, and leaves laughing and bonded—that’s why I do this.
When someone tells me, “I never thought Broadway was for people like me, but now I see it is”—that’s why I do this.
The world doesn’t need another competitive training program or another place where people feel judged. The world needs spaces where people feel welcome, safe, and capable.
That’s what Kevin On The Keys is building. One workshop, one performance, one person at a time.
